Mango Turmeric Super Smoothie

I'm always looking for new smoothie ideas and I love the idea of adding turmeric to a smoothie I just wanted to figure out a way to mask the taste without adding loads of sugar!  The reason I like to use turmeric is because it is one of many ways to reduce inflammation in the body.  And why would one want to do that?  Because inflammation is the main cause for most of the problems we have going on in our bodies.  What is inflammation?  It is the body's immune response.  All of us adults have some level of chronic inflammation slowly waging a war on our tissues and organs, its activity often evidenced only in blood tests. But if it's turned up a notch or two, chronic inflammation can wear away at the body so that the damage is devastating.  From diabetes, to Alzheimer's to cancer there are many ways in which inflammation can wreck havoc on our bodies.

How can reduce inflammation or prevent it? Commonsense health practices may also help. This means having regularly scheduled annual doctor appointment(s) as well as regular dental appointments to spot and treat periodontal disease.

Low-calorie diets and moderate exercise remain the surest thing for preventing degenerative inflammatory disease. Saturated and trans fats tend to stoke the immune response, while omega-3 fatty acids (in fish oils) and monounsaturated fats (such as olive oils) may dampen it. Highly processed carbohydrates may promote inflammation, so as a healthy alternative whole grains with unrefined carbs are best.  And not only am I saying this, but Harvard Research also suggests that alcohol - in moderation - helps to dampen inflammation:)

Now that I just gave you a bit of 4-1-1 on nasty inflammation in the body, this is just one of the steps you can take to help keep it at bay.  Fruits and vegetables are your best friend when it comes to keeping the body performing at an optimal level and keeping diseases out of our body.
