Mint Chocolate Chip Smoothie (V)
One of my favorite ice cream cravings as a kid was Mint Chocolate chip and there are some days that just makes my taste buds water at the thought of it! One of those days arose and I decided I desperately needed one to curb my cravings. Today was the day!
However, I needed one that was conducive to my low carb, low sugar diet to clear my gut and I kept this one relatively low carb. I also like to carb cycle where I’ll add in a few more carbs on days where I am expelling much more energy and burning more. I’ve listed two versions below that I’ve done throughout the past couple weeks depending on my activity and they’ve been very effective for curbing cravings AND for satisfying me for the morning.
Smoothies are a great way to give the digestive system a rest and it really sets the tone for the day. Starting out the day hydrated with greens is a great way to keep up the energy AND provide the body with all the nutrients.
That being said, see the below recipe for both variations depending on your activity level!
LOW CARB / LOW SUGAR VERSION:
Ingredients:
2 handfuls spinach
1 tbsp moringa powder
4 mint leaves
4 ice cubes
1 tbsp nut butter
1 cup nut milk
1 tsp maca powder
1 scoop Vanilla Plant Protein
HIGH ENERGY VERSION:
Ingredients:
2 handfuls spinach
1 tbsp moringa powder
4 mint leaves
1/2 frozen banana
2-3 frozen strawberries
4 ice cubes
1 tbsp nut butter
1 cup nut milk
1 tsp maca powder
1 - 2 scoops Vanilla Plant Protein
Directions:
Blend all ingredients into blender. Blend for 10-15 seconds or until smooth. Top with a few more cacao nibs and enjoy!
